Going meatless once a week it’s a good habit. It’s good for your health and it’s good for the environment. Thanks to Verace Pizzeria it is now a tasty option as well.
My friends @gayvancouver and @customersright are both vegetarians and I’m always on the lookout for good vegetarian fare for them. A tweet from Verace informed me of their meatless monday menu. The menu is filled with tasty options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike, so we all decided to check it out.
Of course, if you’re going to visit Verace you have to have the Burrata ($14.50). This dish is so creamy and delicious, and comes served with warm bread and lightly drizzled with lemon-infused olive oil and balsamic. I just love it. No visit to this restaurant is complete without trying it.
The gentlemen ordered the Funghi Pizza ($15) Mushroom cream, cipollini balsamic onions, mixed crimini, portabella, and oyster mushrooms, and topped with fresh oregano, grana padano and evoo. The onions give this pizza a light sweetness.
For my meal, I ordered the Quattro Formaggi. This pizza is usually $16.25, but it’s on special on Mondays for $13. It has
Gorgonzola, grana padano, goat’s cheese and fior di latte mozzarella finished with fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. There’s a lot of cheese on this pizza, and although delicious, it’s a very heavy dish. I don’t think you’re meant to eat an entire 12 inch pizza by yourself either, what can I say, I’m a glutton.
There are a lot of options, not just pizza. We also ordered a very nice salad with arugula, mission figs, gorgonzola, walnuts, grana padano, sea salt, cracked pepper, lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil. A very light salad, and the figs add a nice touch. Also the gorgonzola add a nice punch of flavour to the mix.
Check them out next Monday for a nice meal. Also wine aficionados rejoice: the corkage fee at Verace is only $10 and the fee is waived on Wednesdays for #vinowednesdays.
