Dine Out Vancouver is the foodie’s Christmas – dozens of restaurants offering delicious menus at reasonable prices. This is the time to get out and try out new restaurants. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find a new favourite.
The Keg has always been one of my favourite restaurants for steaks. The quality is good and the food is always consistent. Although I’m not a fan of chain restaurants, The Keg has won me over.
I’ve been going to the Keg at Guildford for decades (gulp!) and I can’t think of a single time I’ve ever had bad service or did not enjoy a meal.
This time, I decided to check out their Dine Out menu. When I go to The Keg, I usually order the same thing: The Keg Classic Dinner sirloin steak. For $27 you can’t go wrong: A perfectly grilled top sirloin with Caesar salad, seasonal vegetables and a loaded baked potato. Simply perfection. And one does not mess with perfection.
But being Dine Out and all, what they hey, right?
The Dine Out menu consists of a starter or a salad, an entree and dessert for $38. We tried the Baked Garlic Shrimp to start. Baked with garlic and herbs and mixed with cheddar and jack cheeses, this appy is delicious and great for sharing.
The entree choices for the Dine Out menu consists of four choices: Filet Mignon, Sirloin Oscar, Prime Rib with Shrimp or New York Striploin. I was tempted by the prime rib, but I opted for the sirloin Oscar after all.
The steak at The Keg is always good. Their cuts are aged for tenderness and are rub with a special blend of seasonings. I just love the steak the way they make it. Simple. The sirloin oscar is topped with shrimp, scallops, asparagus and Béarnaise sauce. Instead of baked potato I recommend the garlic mashed as a side dish.
For dessert we had the Keg Cheesecake. Their cheesecake is so delicious and creamy… perfect ending. The Dine Out menu has a choice of : Cheesecake with fruit topping, Billy Miner Pie, or Spanish Coffee.
