The 2011 Zombie Walk

Ok, ok, I know I write a food blog, but my second favourite things are zombies. Strange combination? Ok, I’ll give you that.

I don’t know what is it about the undead that I like so much, considering if I ever meet one I’d probably be dinner before anyone could say “brains”. I’m not much of an athletic person, so when it comes time for the zombie apocalypse to be upon us, I intend to eat a fantastic meal, get really, really drunk and take down as many zombies as I can before they make a meal out of ME.

In the meantime, for people like me who want to indulge their morbid fascination and the new season of The Walking Dead on AMC is taking too bloody long, (bloody, get it?) The 2011 Annual Zombie Walk took place this last Saturday, August 20th. The walk started at The Vancouver Art Gallery, along Robson St, down Denman towards the beach and then along Davie and ended in the park along the seawall.

This walk has the distinction of being the second largest zombie walk in North America. It’s a fun event for the entire family, as I saw many zombies with their zombie kids and zombie babies and zombie pets.

I can testify that although the costumes were terrifying, these were very well-behaved undead, and the march went on peacefully.

No brains were harmed in the writing of this post. Enjoy the photos!
