VANEATS.ca has partnered once again with Mosaic restaurant and Chef Thomas Heinrich to bring you an Autumn feast that’s not only delicious, but it’s fully organic, sustainable and affordable!
I was very excited to sample this package. Mosaic is one of my favourite restaurants in the city. I love the seasonal menus and the innovating cocktail list. Today I started my experience with the Mosaic Martini.
This delicious concoction consists of Absolut Raspberry vodka, Absolut Mandarin vodka and Stoli blueberry vodka. Sweet, and tart, this is an excellent choice to start your meal.
Of course each table comes with Mosaic’s delicious complimentary bread and bacon butter.
The #MosaicHarvest 3-course dining package consists of your choice of one of three appetizers, three entrees and two desserts.
For our experience we started with the Fall Salad – the tangerine dressing is sublime! This salad made with in-season vegetables such as baby carrots, beets, Tokyo turnips, fennel and pumpkin will leave your senses tingling. The presentation is very pleasing. Such a pretty dish.
The Apple Lane Orchards Apples Bisque is another dish that’s beautifully presented.
With a subtle roasted chestnut flavour and a hint of spiced brandy cream, this apple bisque is a fantastic harvest dish. So light, it’s the perfect appetizer to get your taste buds going.
Another choice in your package is the A la Minute Smoked Skuna Bay Salmon, with kale nori, wasabi and cauliflower puree. I didn’t order this dish this time around.
For your entrees you have your choice of:
Seared Baja Ocean Wise Scallops, sweet potato, figs, and prosciutto.
Oh wow oh wow, the figs on this dish are amazing! Such a delightful combination. I’ve always loved the scallops here, but this is a game changer. Adding prosciutto? Brilliant.
Sous Vide Lamb, broccoli rabe, butternut squash, and spiced walnuts.
The lamb was so tender and the walnut crust added a nice little crunch to the dish. The lamb comes medium rare and you don’t want it any other way. Great choice of vegetables.
This time around, there’s a vegetarian option to the VANEATS.ca package: The Grilled Curried Cauliflower Steak, with baby carrots, and dates.
This dish has a delightful spice, and the textures are a joy to experience. Sweetness of the date and the curry make this dish a hit with both vegetarians and meat eaters alike.
Moving on with dessert, the VANEATS.ca package gives you two options:
Pumpkin and Nutmeg Creme Brulee
Light and creamy, this dessert is perfect to finish your Mosaic experience.
Mosaic Signature Triple Layer Chocolate Cake.
It’s my personal opinion that there isn’t a better chocolate cake in the city. The Mosaic signature chocolate cake is a must for all chocolate lovers. You just got to try it.
The VANEATS.ca dining package is only $27 and it’s good until February 28, 2014. Excellent choice for Christmas stoking stuffers and hostess gifts. You can buy this package on their website. Check out what Bill and Kev have to say about their package.
The Mosaic Fall Menu has other dishes that are definitely noteworthy. For example the Earth Apple Farms Roasted Beets Salad ($13) has a beet mousse that has got to be tried. If you’re a beet salad fan, I recommend this dish immensely.
Other dish that’s worth trying is the Crispy Brussels Sprouts ($12)
Served with a scotched egg and pork belly, this will have even then pickiest eaters loving brussels sprouts!
(DISCLAIMER: I was a guest of VANEATS.ca and Mosaic. I was chosen to sample this package and write about it. These are my honest opinions of this package. I’m a big fan of Mosaic restaurant and I’ve bought another dining package for myself, and most likely will buy another one as a gift.)
