Vancouver knows its BC wines. We can talk Okanagan Chardonnay over dinner and debate which bottle from the Similkameen to bring home. But how often does Nova Scotia make it into that conversation? The Bluenoser Supper at Provence Marinaside offers a good reason to look east. On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Yaletown restaurant will host an evening of Maritime-inspired food paired with wines from Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards.
This is the first Cellar Series Dinner of Provence’s fall season, with a menu that runs from East Coast oysters to blueberry grunt. Tickets are $145 per person, plus taxes and gratuity. Rachel Lightfoot, the winery’s Director of Production Operations, will join the dinner to share the stories behind the bottles.
A Nova Scotia Visit That Became a Vancouver Dinner
The idea started with a trip. Provence Wine Director Joshua Carlson visited Nova Scotia during the September 2025 harvest while looking for wines for the restaurant’s Lobster Festival. At Lightfoot & Wolfville, time spent with Rachel over wine and East Coast food gave him another idea: bring some of that hospitality back to Vancouver.
Carlson describes feeling at home on his first visit to the province. He was especially impressed by the winery’s Ancienne Chardonnay and Brut, wines he would happily place alongside Canada’s best. The supper grew out of those conversations, with food and wine pairings shaped by what made the visit memorable.
“Bluenoser” is a nickname for someone from Nova Scotia. It’s a fitting name for a dinner with a guest whose family has worked the Annapolis Valley land for eight generations.
Meet Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards
Lightfoot & Wolfville is a family-owned farm winery in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. Its certified organic and biodynamic estate produces small quantities of cool-climate wines with minimal intervention. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling are among the varieties the winery grows, chosen to suit its vineyard sites.
The vineyards overlook the Minas Basin, where the Bay of Fundy’s tides and cool breezes help shape the growing conditions. Freshness is a defining part of the wines’ character, making this dinner an interesting opportunity for anyone curious about Canadian wine beyond the regions usually found on Vancouver lists.
Rachel is the eighth generation of her family to work the land. Having her at the table adds context you don’t get from reading a label, particularly when the conversation turns to farming and the decisions behind each wine.
What’s on the Bluenoser Supper Menu

Owner and Executive Chef Jean-Francis Quaglia and his team have built a five-course menu around East Coast flavours. The evening begins with Lightfoot & Wolfville Brut 2020, which also accompanies the opening oyster course.
- East Coast oysters: A selection served with mignonette, paired with Brut 2020.
- Lobster rolls on brioche: Served with warm potato salad with ham hock and mint, paired with Tidal Bay 2025.
- Seared Digby scallop: With house-cured bacon and corn velouté, paired with Ancienne Chardonnay 2022.
- Chicken ballotine: With chorizo and chicken mousse, jalapeño and English cheddar cream sauce, and roasted broccoli, paired with Terroir Series Gamay Noir 2022.
- Blueberry grunt: Served with vanilla ice cream and lemon zest, paired with Brut Rosé 2022.
The lobster roll course catches my attention, especially with that warm potato salad alongside it. Then there’s the scallop with bacon and corn velouté, followed by a move into Gamay with the chicken. It’s a menu with enough variety to make the wine pairings part of the conversation throughout dinner.
I’m also glad to see blueberry grunt closing the meal. After oysters and lobster, a home-style dessert feels right for an evening built around Nova Scotia hospitality.
