Vassillis restaurant is a Burnaby staple. You can’t miss the very mediterranean look of the house as you drive by on Kingsway. I’ve always gone by it, but I’ve always been hesitant to try it – until my friend Anne recommended we eat there. And Anne knows her food, so when she beckons – I follow.

The restaurant wasn’t too busy for a Wednesday at dinner time, so we got sat right away. We had amazing service from start to finish. Simply flawless. You can’t be in business for over 30 years without doing a few things right.

We started with the homous and pita appetizer. The homous had the just right amount of garlic – it was delicious, and the pita was crispy and warm. We also ordered a couple of glasses of wine, and at $6.50 per glass, it was a very good value.

We followed our appetizer with an amazing dinner – I ordered the Moussaka (baked layers of eggplant, zucchini, and ground beef topped with bechamel) It was served with Greek salad, rice, roasted potatoes and green beans. For the price and the quality you get tons of food. And so good! Anne ordered the roast lamb platter. The lamb just melted in your mouth. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It also came with all the fixings. I also ordered a side of their homemade tzatziki sauce. Again the portion was massive, an incredible value for your money.

I would definitely come back here again. This restaurant knows how to treat their customers right. Everything was perfect.

  1. I like Stefano’s. It’s really close to Columbia Station skytrain in New West. Souvlaki Mondays are $7.99.

    Their roast potato is nice.
