My Valentine of 12 years, Jake, grew up in Cyprus. He loves anything Mediterranean, and he knows his Greek food. So for Valentine’s Day, we decided to try out Mythos Taverna on The West Shore.
We had great service from the minute we entered. We got seated right away beside their wonderful fireplace. The room was lit by candles. Very romantic.
For starters, we had the Homous (tahini and chick pea pate $6.95) and the Saganaki (pan-fried Greek cheese $7.95).
Jake is really picky about his homous – and he really liked it. I personally thought it wasn’t garlicy enough, but still tasty. The Saganaki was really good! it was so melty and delicious. It came with a large slice of lemon on top and with warm pita bread. What a great start to the meal.
For our main courses, we had Mousaka ( potato, zucchini, eggplant, ground beef and bechamel $17.25) and the Chicken Souvlaki ($17.95). The souvlaki came with rice, vegetables, potatoes and a healthy portion of satziki sauce. I love satziki sauce, its one of my favorite things to eat – and theirs was just delicious. The portions were massive, you would’ve easily made two meals out of my Mousaka. I could barely eat another bite…. then dessert came. We shared the Baklava– not too sweet. Just right.
I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, I loved the murals and the fireplace. I thought the candles were a nice touch. The food was really good and the waiters were very attentive. If you’re looking for a nice romantic dinner without breaking the bank, I recommend it. Happy dinning!
