Hapa Umi is a new concept restaurant by the owners of the very popular Hapa Izakaya franchise, with locations on Robson, Yaletown and Kits.

The new restaurant is gorgeous. It features great lighting and modern decor. It also offers amazing waterfront views. The menu has a large variety of Japanese and Japanese inspired dishes, as well as some delicious fusion dishes. As part of the Ocean Wise program, their seafood is harvested in an environmentally responsible way.

One thing that stood out from my lunch experience was the presentation. The food was not only delicious but beautiful as well.

I order the daily bento box. ($19) It came with an array of treats: salmon and beef sashimi, salmon roll, miso soup, mushroom rice, potato salad and a delicious lamb chop. Overall a wonderful tasting menu. The salmon was so tender and perfectly marinated, I’m literary drooling just by remembering how good it was! It must be tasted to be believed.  We also ordered the Chicken Katsu Don ($14) It was delicious.

For two people, our bill came to $45 (with drinks) not a bad price tag for a delicious lunch in Downtown.
