Heather and Lori were two childhood friends working in NYC when 9/11 struck. Faced with the realisation that life is indeed too short, they decided to follow their dreams and open a bakery. Cupcakes was born.
Many years later, Lori and Heather are still good friends, and Cupcakes has expanded into a sweet, sweet empire. Cupcakes caters orders large and small. everything from a sweet treat to elaborate wedding cakes. I bought birthday cakes from here and I love their cupcakes!
The cupcakes come in three sizes: minis, regular and the big one. My favourites are:
Blue Hawaii – coconut cake with vanilla buttercream icing and sprinkled with coconut.
Lemon Drop – Lemon cake with lemon buttercream icing topped with a lemon wedge candy – this one is so good! Nice and tart.
Caramella – Chocolate cake filled with caramel and buttercream icing topped with pralines – I love biting into this cupcake as all the gooey caramel comes out. A real treat.
Red Velvet – red cocoa cake with cream cheese icing and dusted with white sugar – I love this cupcake, the cream cheese icing is so good!
