As the leaves turn vibrant shades of red and orange and the air becomes crisper, there’s one event that I anticipate every fall season – Pumpkins After Dark in Burnaby. This Canada’s award-winning outdoor Halloween extravaganza is a celebration of all things spooky and spectacular. It’s a must-see event, and this year, I had the privilege of experiencing the magic once again.
An Unforgettable Journey Through Hand-Carved Pumpkins
Walking through the enchanting entrance, I was immediately immersed in the world of Halloween wonder. Over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins illuminated the night, creating a mesmerizing pathway through an array of captivating Halloween scenes. Each pumpkin was intricately carved, showcasing the creativity and artistry of the creators. The moment I stepped in, it felt like I had entered a realm where pumpkins had come to life, telling tales of Halloween folklore.

What sets Pumpkins After Dark apart is the synchronization of music, sounds, and special effects that bring these pumpkin displays to life. As I strolled through the pathways, I felt like I was part of a magical performance. The eerie sounds and subtle lighting made every step thrilling. It was as if I had been transported to the heart of a Halloween movie.
In addition to the displays, there were live entertainment acts that added an extra layer of fun. The performers in their costumes mingled with the crowd and provided bursts of unexpected amusement.
For those with an appetite, local food trucks are serving fall-themed treats and sweets. I couldn’t resist indulging in some pumpkin-spiced goodness that complemented the Halloween spirit.

Artistry on Display
Pumpkins After Dark is not just about admiring the finished creations; it also offers a glimpse into the craftsmanship behind these incredible displays. Live pumpkin carving demonstrations showcased the artistry and dedication that goes into each piece.
The festival organizers have thoughtfully placed captivating photo opportunities throughout the venue. These spots provided the perfect backdrop for those Instagram-worthy snapshots.
