October can feel like a bit of a drag. Thanksgiving has come and gone. The days keep getting shorter. It’s tempting to just stay cozy at home. The Greek by Anatoli’s “Social October” promo provided all the motivation I needed. I grabbed Josh and got out for a good meal. From October 15th to November 7th, they offered 40% off on some of their best-selling dishes. It was the perfect excuse to shake off the early winter blues. I enjoyed some of the best Greek food in Vancouver.
We walked into The Greek in Gastown. The warm, relaxed vibe and friendly service made us feel at home. We started our meal with a Caesar Salad and the Dip Taster, which arrived with plenty of pita for scooping. The dip platter was more than enough for sharing. The red pepper feta dip was an instant favourite. It was creamy. It was slightly smoky and had just the right amount of zest. Josh and I returned for seconds (okay, maybe thirds).
Then came the Lamb Youvetsi, a classic dish that lived up to its reputation. The lamb was tender and fell apart easily. Yet, the rich, thick tomato sauce sealed the deal for me. It was hearty and full of flavour. It’s just what you want as the temperatures drop.
I ordered the Souvlaki Platter for myself, and I’m not going to lie—I planned to take some home. There were two skewers and a spread of generous sides. It was so good. I managed to polish off nearly all of it. The portions at The Greek are no joke. If you’re sharing with friends, it’s more than enough to keep everyone happy. Was Josh both impressed and amused at my delight with the food? Maybe.
To unlock the 40% discount, we took a quick photo. Then we checked in on social media. It was an easy trade-off, and getting such a big discount added a fun element to the night. Social October is a nice little reminder to enjoy good food. Spend time with great company, even when the weather tries to keep us home.
