Bif Naked has always been more than just a rock star. She’s a poet, a fighter, and an icon. She has spent her career breaking barriers. She inspires generations with her fearless authenticity. Fans now have the opportunity to watch her story on the big screen. They can do this at the Canadian Theatrical Premiere of BIF NAKED (directed by Pollyanna Hardwicke-Brown) at Vancouver’s Rio Theatre.

The evening doesn’t stop there. In addition to the documentary screening, Bif will treat the audience to an intimate acoustic performance. A Q&A session will follow. This experience feels perfectly at home on the East Van stage.

A Story of Resilience

The documentary takes an unflinching look at Bif’s journey. It highlights her early years surviving exploitation and sexual assault. It details her battles with cancer, stroke, and kidney failure. It also covers her fight to carve out space as a woman in a male-dominated rock scene. Born in India, adopted by missionaries, and raised in Canada, Bif found her voice in the underground punk scene of the late ’80s and ’90s. From there, she became a symbol of empowerment—turning trauma into poetry, pain into anthems, and resilience into a career that continues to inspire.

With candid interviews, rare archival footage, and powerful performances, BIF NAKED captures the highs and lows of her life. She also captures the spirit of an artist who has always lived unapologetically.

I had the chance to meet Bif at the Vancouver Wellness Show a few years back. My son Dylan came with me, and Bif was so kind and down-to-earth with him. It meant the world to see someone he admired treat him with such warmth. I also picked up her book that day, and couldn’t put it down. It was raw, moving, and full of the same honesty she brings to her music. Beyond her music and writing, I’ve always appreciated how vocal she is in supporting the LGBTQ2S+ community. Representation and allyship matter, and Bif has consistently shown up for causes that make a difference.
