A day at The Baker’s Market
This is gotta be one of the funnest thing to do on a Saturday morning! and I can’t believe I’ve never been there! but when Cake Tease announced via facebook that they would be there this Saturday, I had to go!
The Baker’s Market is located at 408 East Kent Avenue South in Vancouver, and it runs every Saturday until Dec 11 from 11am until 3pm. The best part is that it’s indoors. Overall there were about 12-15 bakers present. I loved it – everyone was so nice and their cakes and cookies and pastries looked so good. Also there were great deals to be had.
We had a chance to meet some of the vendors, here are some of our favorites:
Buttercup Cake Design
Chef Amanda is the owner of Buttercup Cake Design. They specialize in stylized dessert tables filled with coordinated treats, customized wedding and celebration cakes, and gourmet favours and custom gift boxes. One thing that stood out for me at her table were her beautiful macaroons and marshmallow lollipops. Check them out at www.buttercupcakedesign.com
Bakesale Baking Co.
We had the pleasure of meeting Chris, the owner of Bakesale. He tells us that all his treats are inspired by vintage American desserts, “the way Momma used to make” he says. All his treats are made from scratch in small batches and are made 100% from wholesome ingredients. His chocolate cake was to die for: moist, rich and sweet. You can see their entire menu online at http://www.thebakesale.ca/menu.htm
I had the pleasure of sampling some of his delicious ginger shortbread. So tasty! He uses only local fresh ingredients. Chef Kev aims to bring Vancouver the best treats at affordable prices.
Chef Kev’s delectable shortbread, macaroons and cookies can be bought in a $20 gift box sampler that includes four of his hand-made chocolate truffles. What a deal! Orders should be placed a few days before they are picked up. View his website here and call Chef Kev at (778) 317-6303 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org Orders can be picked up at Sabor Latino Bakery, 1211 Nanaimo St. (between 1st Ave. and Hastings St.) Also you can find him on facebook.
