This is probably the best sushi in Surrey. Located steps from Guildford Town Centre, Hanako Sushi is a little gem waiting to be found.

The restaurant is tiny. The main focus its the food. The freshest sashimi you’ve ever tasted. Hand rolled sushi that’s fresh and delicious. I thought that you have to go to Vancouver to find sushi this good, but I was wrong. This is big city sushi.

If you’ve never been here I suggest you order the salmon sashimi. Theirs is wild sockeye salmon and you wouldn’t believe the difference that makes. The fish is firm and has a great texture. Best part is that is consistent. I’ve been here a few times, and I order this dish a lot, and every time this dish is great.

Another good dish is the tuna gomae – now traditional gomae has spinach on it, but on this take of the dish, all you get is fresh mahi mahi tuna on a delicious sesame-peanut sauce. So good. The tuna is like butter. I could eat 10 of these.

Aside from fresh sushi, Hanako makes traditional Japanese dishes. They have a very good pork gyoza that I recommend getting. They have a decent Sake list.

The prices are a little high. For two people our bill came to $65 plus tip. But the food is good and I personally think it’s worth checking out.
