Canadians love their summer, and for good reason – the season is so short, blink and you miss it. So we truly make the best of it.
And what better way to enjoy our summer than with good friends, good food and of course, good drinks! So as we’re approaching the last long weekend of the summer, I’m throwing a small get together for my friends, and I’m testing some delicious drinks and snacks using Pinnacle Vodka.
I really like Pinnacle Vodka because it’s a very clean and smooth vodka that’s perfect for mixing. I love to make cocktails for my guests, so I can honestly say that Pinnacle’s taste, flavour variety and affordable price point make it is one my go-to mixing vodkas.
So, first up is my own version of boozy watermelon. Who doesn’t like watermelon in the summer? This recipe works best with a sweet seedless watermelon.
Cut the watermelon in small pieces, getting all the flesh off and pour Pinnacle Original Vodka on top of watermelon pieces. Leave in fridge overnight. Garnish with fresh basil and serve cold. So brilliantly simple.
Then I got thinking: What else can I do with my boozy watermelon? How about a cocktail:
The Last Days of Summer
- 2 pieces of boozy watermelon
- Fresh basil
- 1 oz Pinnacle Original Vodka
- Lemon juice
- Soda Water
- Ice
In a short glass, muddle boozy watermelon and basil. Add ice and vodka. Stir. Squeeze the juice of half a small lemon and top with soda water. Enjoy!
So simple and so delicious.
