Honda Celebration of Light, Vancouver – August 2 (UK) and August 5 (Canada)
The second night of the annual Honda Celebration of Light features the United Kingdom, and the third night will conclude with Canada’s presentation on August 5. In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, each competing team will be required to include an iconic Canadian song into their display. Free admission for all, tickets are available for various seated locations, including the YVR Observation Deck, online here.
Vancouver Pride Week Festival, Various locations in Vancouver – August 4, 5 & 6
This year’s Vancouver Pride Week Festival will be a 3 day celebration of Vancouver’s culture, freedom and community spirit.
- August 4: Davie Street Block Party (6pm-12am, free)
- August 5: Terry Wallace Memorial Breakfast at Jim Deva Plaza (8am-12pm, free)
- August 6: 39th Annual Pride Parade (12pm-3pm, free) + Sunset Beach Festival (11am-6pm, free)
Abbotsford Agrifair, Abbotsford Exhibition Park, August 4, 5 & 6 (10am – 10pm daily)
The annual Abbotsford Agrifair is the “biggest little country fair since 1911), and features amusement rides, livestock, and competitions, over BC Day Long Weekend. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and free for children ages 10 and under. 3 day weekend passes are also available at $15/person. Rides are extra.
Harmony Arts Festival, West Vancouver, August 4 to August 13
The family-friendly Harmony Arts Festival features live music, outdoor concerts, art displays, outdoor movies, and other entertainment. Admission is free, and the event runs from 11am – 9pm daily. Check their website for the full event schedule!
16th Annual Korean Cultural Festival, Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, August 5
The annual Korean Cultural Festival provides an opportunity to experience Korean art exhibitions, martial arts demonstrations, cultural events and traditional cuisine. Admission is free, and the event will be open 10am-8pm.
41st Annual Powell Street Festival, Oppenheimer Park and surrounding area in Vancouver, August 5 & 6
As the largest Japanese Canadian festival in the country, highlights include unique arts performances, calligraphy presentations, interactive installations, martial arts, film screenings, and theatre. 17th Annual Maple Ridge Caribbean Festival, Maple Ridge Fairgrounds, August 5 & August 6
The Maple Ridge Caribbean Festival will feature 2 large stages with continuous music provided by 15 live bands from Toronto and the Lower Mainland’s Caribbran communities, as well as food vendors, street vendors, and a kid zone. Open 1pm-10pm on Saturday, and 12pm-8:30pm on Sunday, and admission is free for this family-friendly event!
45th Annual Tsawwassen Sun Festival, Winskill Park in Tsawwassen, August 5, 6 & 7
The annual Tsawwassen Sun Festival is jampacked with entertainment – including main stage performances, food trucks, kids funzone, Rotary Parade, skateboard competition, classic car show & shine, drive-in movie nights and more. Admission is free for this family-friendly event!
Abbotsford International Airshow, Abbotsford International Airport (YXX), August 11, 12 & 13
Canada’s premier aviation showcase and community event will feature diverse aerial and aviation-related displays, as well as a Kids Zone throughout the weekend. Event runs from 3:30pm – 10:30pm on Friday and 9:00am – 6:00pm on Saturday & Sunday.
