When Josh and I decided to take a day trip to Abbotsford, BC, we had no idea just how much this charming town had to offer. From delicious food to unique shopping and even a bit of sports (though we won’t claim to be pros), Abbotsford turned out to be the perfect escape from Vancouver. We packed our day with all the good stuff—food, laughter, and exploration. Here’s how it all went down.
Breakfast at Lepp’s Bakehouse

We started our day bright and early with breakfast at Lepp’s Bakehouse, and let me tell you, their breakfast sando is the best way to start your day. Picture this: Coligny Creek eggs, Havarti cheese, fresh tomato, garlic aioli, arugula, and double-smoked bacon, all nestled on a house-made brioche bun. Yeah, it was as amazing as it sounds. I’m still dreaming about that sandwich. Lepp’s is family-owned, and you can really feel the love in their food.
Pickleball at Jubilee Park
After fueling up on breakfast, we thought we’d burn off some energy at Jubilee Park, which is one of the top spots for pickleball in Abbotsford. Neither of us had played before, but we figured, how hard could it be? Spoiler alert: it’s harder than it looks. The park has eight outdoor courts, and it’s totally free to use. We were absolutely terrible, but honestly, it was so much fun! We spent more time laughing than actually playing, and that’s what made it great. Plus, the weather was perfect, so who could complain?
Shopping in Historic Downtown Abbotsford
Next up, we headed to Historic Downtown Abbotsford with our Downtown Dollars in hand. (Side note: these dollars are such a cool idea. You buy them like gift certificates, but they work like cash at loads of local shops, restaurants, and even service providers.)
Our first stop was Corby’s Antiques & Collectibles, which was filled with hidden treasures. I picked up a pair of vintage silver cuff links for my husband. Then we popped into Lotus & Lemongrass, and Josh found some quirky home décor pieces. Everything is so cute and unique. I could’ve spent all day browsing their one-of-a-kind gifts.
Lunch at RE:VIVE Boutique Bistro

After some shopping, we were ready for lunch, so we checked out RE:VIVE Boutique Bistro. It’s this adorable spot that combines a bistro with a boutique, making it the ultimate hangout for besties like us. We ordered one of their vegetarian charcuterie boards, which was almost too pretty to eat—but of course, we dug in. The food was fresh, colourful, and delicious, and the vibe was so cozy. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Abbotsford.
Sweet Treats at Banter Ice Cream
No day trip is complete without dessert, right? We strolled over to Banter Ice Cream and ordered their lavender and basil ice cream. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was surprisingly refreshing! It’s definitely a flavour you won’t forget anytime soon, and it’s one of those must-try places when you’re in town.
Berry Picking at Maan Farms

We wrapped up our day at Maan Farms, just in time for their annual Berry Days. This year, they added a new twist: Standing Strawberry U-Pick. It’s the first of its kind in Canada, and it’s honestly genius. You don’t even have to bend down to pick the berries! We wandered through the elevated rows, picking fresh, juicy strawberries while soaking in the vibrant colors of the farm.
And of course, we couldn’t leave without trying their famous Strawberry Cloud Ice Cream—the perfect way to end a day full of good food and good vibes.
Why Abbotsford Makes the Perfect Day Trip from Vancouver

What I loved most about our day trip to Abbotsford, BC was that it was such an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver, yet it felt like we were a world away. Whether you’re into good food, outdoor fun, or quirky local shops, Abbotsford has a little bit of everything. And with its laid-back atmosphere and welcoming vibe, it’s the perfect spot for a quick, refreshing getaway.
We can’t wait to go back and discover more of this lovely town. Who knows what other hidden gems are waiting to be found in Abbotsford? Until next time!
