Villa Verdi has been a Surrey staple for over 19 years. The menu has a variety of pasta, fish and meat dishes – lots of variety.
The restaurant has a lot of character, it’s a beautiful pink house that its hard to miss. Inside you will find very classy, traditional surroundings, linen table clothes and very attentive service. A great place for a romantic dinner.
Prices are middle of the road, entrees range from $16 to $26 per person.
As soon as we sat down, we were presented with a basket of fresh bread. I usually think nothing of the complimentary bread baskets at an Italian restaurant, but this rolls were pretty tasty! And they came warm from the oven, which was a plus.
We shared a Insalata Caprese ($10.95) Fresh, ripe, sweet tomatoes and tender mozzarella, with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette. What is there not to like. Great way to start our meal.
For our entrees, we had the Cannelloni alla Fiorentina ($17.95) Canelloni pasta filled with spinach and ricotta cheese. This dish was great. But I felt the price was too steep for the portions we got. We also had the Spagetti al Ragu ($17.50) a simple spagetti dish with a rich and tangy tomato and meat sauce.
I asked if the pasta was made in-house and I was told by our waiters that it wasn’t, but it was bought from local vendors.
For dessert, we had the Torta di Cioccolata ($6.95) and the Creme Brulee ($6.50) The best of the two was the torta di cioccolata. It was creamy and very rich. Loved every bite.
So what did I think?
This place is great for a special occasion or a romantic evening. The service is great, very attentive. The prices are a bit high, but that’s what you pay for the atmosphere. The food is good, definitely save room for dessert.
