Montana’s Cookhouse

We were driving through Coquitlam today and happened to stumble upon “Montana’s Cookhouse” and boy were we happy we made a wrong turn. I’ve been to many BBQ & Steak establishments throughout the lower mainland as well as New York & New Jersey and this is by far my favorite place as far as a rack of ribs is concerned. The relaxed atmosphere felt like you were in a family owned ski lodge. We sat right near a personal fireplace that you could control yourself which was great being it was so cold outside. The service at this location was top notch, from the supervisor (Ayesha) who greeted us with a smile and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed to our adorable server (Sarah) who was so attentive and sweet we were very impressed on the knowledge and manner they all displayed.

Their aim was really to please us and to make sure we had a great dining experience which went above and beyond our expectations. Everyone must go to this location just for the “All You Can Eat Ribs” which they are running through mid-March. Choose your ribs from Pork Side Ribs for $25.79 or the Baby Back Ribs for $27.79 and you get to choose your sauce from; Texas Bold, Apple Butter, Honey Garlic, Chipotle Honey & Cracked Black Peppercorn. We had the Honey Garlic & the Texas Bold and they were both to die for. The meat on these ribs are without fat and connective tissue making it like butter, it just fell off the bone. The rival Dallas BBQ in New York City I actually loved the ribs here better.

Their menu consists of Chicken, Steaks, Ribs, Burgers, Sandwiches, Fish & Chips, yummy sounding drinks and great desserts. We started off with with Oven Baked Antojitos – A spicy blend of cheese, Jalapeno, Onion & Red Pepper rolled up in a flour tortilla and oven baked till it all melts together and served with pesto sour-cream for $9.99. Both my dining partner and myself had the Fajitas, I had the Steak and he had the Chicken – Sizzling hot strips of BBQ chicken breast or tender steak, peppers and onions. Served with Cheddar cheese, diced tomato, lettuce, sour cream, salsa and toasty flour tortillas. (If you value the first three layers of skin, don’t touch the iron skillet). For $19.59. The Fajitas were great, hot & seasoned very well more than enough for sharing.

We both had a small plate of ribs with the best corn bread you’ll taste this side of the Rockies. Ribs just fell off the bone and were braised with great sauces. We were so full but couldn’t resist trying them. Again I highly suggest you order them when you visit. We did not have room for dessert but the Shake ‘N Share Mini Donuts sounded great for $5.49 – Eight warm mini donuts cooked fresh to order and tossed in powdered sugar right before your eyes, and served with caramel dipping sauce.   1. Too bad they don`t have any Tony Roma`s here anymore. I find they are wayyyy better than Montana`s. We went in Edmonton and had awesome service too!


  2. It’s interesting how we do get to see places like Montana’s in the Tri Cities where they typically can’t be found in the big city, so I’m thankful for what we have and here’s hoping for something soon that will help us forget about Roma’s!
