Joe Fortes Cocktail Party Tweetup – #JFTweetup

On a not so sunny day, Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop Host hosted it’s rooftop patio cocktail party tweetup tonight (@JoeFortesVan #JFTweetup). Although the rain came down on the restaurant patio, it was super sunny indoors with delicious sangria drinks welcoming guests at the entrance, and servers passing out seafood treats in the bistro.

One side of the bistro was setup with a photo booth by @photostar, another station was setup with Oyster Bob – infamous for his oyster shucking skills. Oyster Bob dished out fresh and juicy raw oysters on the half shell and gave out lots of wonderful tips and skills on preparing oysters. He told us the secret to his success was 10 years of practice and dedication to perfecting his art, and a well-carved specialty knife. Oyster Bob has worked for Joe Fortes for over 25 years! He definitely knows what he’s doing since my favorite dish of the evening was definitely the fresh oysters with  the red wine vinaigrette and shallots garnish. I couldn’t resist going back to the station multiple times!

Another table was setup with double towers of seafood – oysters, clams, mussels, crab legs, shrimp, tuna. There was also beef wrapped in asparagus, albacore tuna in a sesame cone, lamb skewers, salmon sliders, and miso sablefish. Another one of my favorites at Joe Fortes is their soft, melt-in-your-mouth miso sablefish. Servers also came around with crab croquette – similar to the crab cake but with a more Asian flair as a croquette; they also served giant tempura prawns.

The service at the overall event was very attentive – taking drink orders, removing dishes, and putting out fresh food. Props to Oyster Bob for the oysters and the tips! The sangria created by Beverage Manager Jennifer Hennessey was dangerously delicious. The intimate setting inside the bistro allowed everyone to mix and mingle and make some new friends. Thanks to Joe Fortes for the delicious and fun event!

Make sure to follow @JoeFortesVan for the latest news and specials.

Note: Although as a guest for this event, I was not expected to write a post. However I enjoyed it so much, I had to provide my opinion on this event. @alicelovesadventure
