High tea at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has moved to the elegant newly re-opened “The Roof”, combining elegant surroundings, gorgeous views, with fine tea blends and sweet and savoury bites. The Roof high tea is the perfect occasion to celebrate family and friends.
Chef Cameron Ballendine has created an afternoon tea menu filled with local and organic ingredients. Their teas are blended exclusively by The Metropolitan Tea Company. High tea is $49 for adults and $24.50 for children. For an additional $20 you can add a glass of Moet & Chandon to create a Champagne tea experience.
We started our experience with an amuse-bouche of an asparagus tart and a chicken and apple sausage roll.
Followed by yogurt panna cotta topped with fresh berries
The tea consists of three tiers of goodies. Starting with freshly made butter and orange apricot scones served with house-made fruit preserves and Devonshire clotted cream.
The next tier includes your savoury sandwiches – cold smoked wild salmon, organic egg salad Russian rye, caviar curried free range chicken, Branston pickle caraway roll, maple glazed ham & gouda, dionnaise cracked wheat bread and of course, English cucumber & upland pepper cress on a buttermilk loaf.
To end your tea time, the last tier has your sweet bites: lemon curd & charred meringue, chocolate vienetta, fruit tartlet a signature tea truffle and a cassis macaron.
For children under 12, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver offers a Children’s Bubblegum Tea that includes Bubblegum Tea (other varieties are available), finger sandwiches (PB&J, of course), fresh strawberries and cream, a giant chocolate chip cookie, mini jello and a seasonal fruit tartlet.
Also, if you or any in your party has specific diet-dependend conditions such as gluten-free, as well as unique dietary preferences including vegetarian and vegan diets, the hotel will modify its menu to accommodate them.
The hotel offers high tea Monday to Friday from 2:30pm till 4:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00pm till 4:00pm.
