The drive to Harrison was very straightforward with clear signs and turnoffs. It did help that we used our Tom Tom GPS unit to help guide us along the way. I definitely recommend using one whenever going on long road trips.
Harrison Beach Hotel turned out to be located just steps from the beach, in the centre of the village. The view from the beach facing room is spectacular and waking up to misty covered islands was a highlight of the trip.
Along with the stunning views of the lake and mountains are the hotel amenities, including the kitchenette, which for a family with a young toddler was most helpful. Things like a small fridge, stove top, fully equipped with pots, pans, fresh coffee and coffee maker, kettle, and all your kitchen ware made life so much easier on us when preparing our meals. A tip to those who want to book is to purchase your groceries from a local super market in Chilliwack (25 minutes away) or Agassiz (10 minutes away) on your way into town.
There is however a local grocery just down the street from the hotel, but options are limited. We found a local diner (Lakeview Restaurant at 150 Esplanade Ave) to offer an affordable yet quality meal for our needs.
The rooms are very spacious with plenty of storage space in cupboards and dresser drawers. We even located an ironing board and iron in one of the cupboards.
When it came to bath time, we found the bathroom spacious, immaculately clean, with a tub and full of wonderful treats, such as fresh towels, fresh robes, hairdryer, and small but significant things like dental floss, and Bath & Bodyworks shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion.
Of course, for our needs, the free wifi was so important. You can have up to three devices online at a time.
For those who want to relax without leaving the hotel, downstairs there’s a pool and hot tub and free pool towels at the front desk.
Service is always prompt and courteous. When we asked for a crib it was literally delivered in seconds. Thanks to Jackson at the front desk for his help with that.
Something I like about this hotel is that it is smoke free but pet friendly.
I’m also a huge fan of their beds. The linens were of high quality and there were plenty of extra pillows that we could use with our little one. After a good nights rest we were happy to enjoy a fresh cup of Van Houtte coffee, another amenity offered with the room.
Within a short walking distance of both public and pay hot springs, as well as the local restaurants, boating, shopping and beach, you can’t get much more central than this affordable and premium hotel offering year-round accommodations.
