The Boathouse Restaurant is one of Vancouver’s favourite restaurants. With 7 Westcoast locations, it specializes in fresh BC seafood, local ingredients, and fresh flavours. The restaurant’s locations make the dining experience truly special: All with stunning waterfront views.
We were invited by The Boathouse to sample their summer menu. We decided to try out their New Westminster location near the New West Quay Market. I was a bit hesitant about bringing my small son along, but I found The Boathouse restaurant to be very family friendly. Our server was very attentive to Dylan, and they provided a high chair, crayons and colouring sheets for my little guy.
We started our meal with the Ahi Tuna Tacos ($13.99) – served in crispy wonton shells, these ocean wise tuna tacos are served in a wasabi aioli and mango salsa. We paired our appetizer with a couple of The Boathouse’s brews on tap: a Granville Island Cypress Honey Lager and a Stanley Park Amber Ale.
Another delicious appetizer we got to try was The Boathouse Signature Calamari ($12.99). It’s served with homemade tzatziki & sweet chili sauce.
Moving on to the mains: Jake called this salad the BEST salad he’s ever eaten: The Seafood Chop Chop Salad ($19.99) – this salad is served with a beautiful slab of grilled wild salmon. The salmon has a a gorgeous crimson colour and it’s so flavourful. The salad is complimented with shrimp, scallops, egg, cucumber, tomato and it’s finished with a mustard vinaigrette.
Here’s a small tip: make sure to leave room for dessert. The Boathouse has great desserts: Like the New York Cheesecake ($8.99) it’s a delicious creamy cheesecake served with seasonal berries & whipped cream.
We also sampled their Crème Brûlée ($8.99) featuring a different flavour every season: this summer it was ginger.
