Across the street from Gateway Skytrain Station is a little sushi restaurant called Sushi Well.
Small and non-pretentious, this particular franchise has a great chef and has become a favourite spot for my family and I. We enjoy spending our Friday dinner there. And the food is delicious.
Chef Jake’s Aburi creations rival those of some of Vancouver’s most celebrated Japanese restaurants in Vancouver. One of my favourite is the Aburi Salmon Nigiri that comes in a house made garlic sauce, and it is simply exquisite.
I also have to mention the service. The restaurant, even thought it’s fairly small, has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff are very attentive. As I mentioned before – I’m a regular and I’m yet to have a bad experience. The price point is very reasonable as well. One of the best values is the bento box for dinner. Lots of food.
Sushi Well also carries rice dishes, udon and other Japanese favourites. But it’s my opinion that it’s the restaurant’s sushi creations that really make the trip to Surrey worth it.
For those who are not willing to make the trek across the river – Sushi Well also has a location in New Westminster.
