Dineout Vancouver 2017 – Yaletown Brunch Crawl
We met at the chic neighbourhood of Yaletown this time. We started at Rocanini Coffee Roasters with a Rum Latte: 2 shots of Espresso, with steamed milk and rum flavouring. It was the perfect pick me up to get us started on our crawl.
Next up was Teaja Organic Teas for a sampling of Rooibos and Earl Grey teas. The Earl Grey was sweetened with Coconut milk and honey for a delicious and healthy treat.
Moving on to Living Produce Aisle for some good-for-you smoothies made with organic ingredients using freshly harvested greens grown from their Urban Cultivators. The Micro-Green Salad was a tasty mix of pea shoot, sunflower, purple radish, broccoli, nasturtium and kale greens with pumpkin seeds and cranberries in a balsamic, honey and olive oil vinaigrette. My favourite was the Peanut Butter Cup Smoothie. It includes protein powder, almond milk, banana, peanut butter and pea shoot and broccoli micro greens.
A little unorthodox for brunch, but delicious anyways was our visit to House Especial for an assortment of small plates: Vietnamese Festival cake (sticky rice roulade with pork, house-made 5 spice sausage, mung bean, cucumber, pickle cabbage and celery with Sriracha chutney), Congee Noir (black and rice porridge congee with house-made Chinese donut, boudin noir sausage and house-made CO sauce) and Steamed Glass Dumplings (banana leaf, wrapped tapioca dumplings, ground pork, cured shrimp, nouc cham, pork crackling and red chili).
Our last stop took us to Ganache Patisserie for a delicious sampling of desserts. Buttery croissants, macarons, madeleines and Goyave Citron Mandarine cake.
