Paint and Sip with Tara Higgins at Rocky Mountain Flatbread!

If you’re in the Kitsilano area, you’ve probably heard of Rocky Mountain Flatbread. Delicious food, refreshing drinks, and welcoming people, this place embodies the easy comfort of a good neighbourhood.

On a warm Tuesday evening, we sat down and shared a beautiful dinner with local BC painter Tara Higgins. The table was set with cutlery and paintbrushes, and Tara promised we would all be painters in 15 minutes, give or take.

Started the night off with a triple berry mojito. Tangy, sweet, and a bit of a kick, gotta get the sip in before the paint, right?

Their spring menu was laid out straight from their wood-fire oven. Featuring spring veggies and local cheeses, what isn’t to love?

What a spread! All local ingredients, all fantastic dishes.
A sophisticated flatbreads of ham and egg, jalapeno, and fig and brie plus curried pasta.
An earl grey gin cocktail along with a classic mojito.

Fed and watered, we listened while Tara walked us through her art. Tara is a landscape artist, and her paintings are incredibly textured. The colours blend and contrast in sharp and vivid combinations. For that night, we set out to paint some birch trees.

Pictured above, one of Tara’s masterpieces. Pictured below, two hours’ worth of work on my part and endless patience on Tara’s.Trying new things is always fun, especially when surrounded by such good company. If you want to catch more of Tara’s work and a glimpse of her sparkling personality, catch her at Art! Vancouver this weekend or at her other galleries.

Drop by Rocky Mountain Flatbread at 1876 W. 1st Ave for their farm to pizza food!
