After many, many months of anticipation and excitement… UNIQLO Canada is finally opening at Metropolis at Metrotown today October 6th at 10:00am!
This is their third location in Canada and the first(!) on the West Coast, following their first two locations in Toronto.
UNIQLO celebrated their opening last night with a traditional sake cracking ceremony at their VIP event on October 5 with several distinguished guests from Japan, Ivanhoé Cambridge, and UNIQLO – including the founder Tadashi Yanai.
The grand opening this morning will include a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony and taiko drum performance at 10am.
“The launch of UNIQLO in British Columbia represents another major milestone for us, as Canada continues to be an important focus for the company globally. This country’s cultural and climatic diversity represents the perfect platform for UNIQLO and our philosophy of LifeWear,” said Yasuhiro Hayashi, Chief Operating Officer of UNIQLO Canada, in a press statement.
The 20,800 sq ft store spans two levels at Metropolis and carries a large selection of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing at relatively affordable prices. Keep an eye out for the signature collections, especially their HEATTECH innerwear, cashmere sweaters, light down vests & jackets, and premium denim.
A curated selection of apparel caters specifically for Vancouverites – “Natural Union” featuring laidback, casual wear that has a very West Coast vibe unique to us. Think lots of cozy knit or flannel fabrics with a nature-inspired colour palette.
Uniqlo has plenty of autumn/winter gear as part of their Natural Union collection available, including their ever-popular ultra light compact down jackets, merino wool sweaters, cozy plaid flannels, and more.
Come and check it out for yourself!
This Tokyo-based brand also carries many accessories, including socks, hats, scarves, gloves, and shoes. Ladies – I would definitely recommend their blanket scarves (I personally have two)… super cozy and versatile for the upcoming chilly months!
UNIQLO Canada can be found at Metropolis at Metrotown on the Ground and Lower Levels.
