What’s a better way to spend a Saturday in Vancouver than having brunch with friends and family? I love brunch, hands down the best meal of the day, and I’ve become so obsessed with it, I’ve made it my mission in life to review as many brunch menus I possibly can this Spring and summer.
First, on the list: we found ourselves at Prestons Restaurant and Lounge in Coal Harbor for their newly updated brunch menu. Their West Coast inspired breakfast creations include many breakfast favourites such as eggs benedict, chicken and waffles and salads.
The prices are pretty reasonable, with most dishes starting between $10 – $15. I really enjoyed the diversity and variety of the menu.
What we tried:
Brioche French Toast
Spinach and Kale Salad
Avocado Mushroom Toast.
We started with some “burnchy” drinks -on weekends Preston offers $5 mimosas and Caesars – you really can’t go wrong with those.
The Brioche French Toast came with citrus butter, vanilla honey and fresh oranges topped with lightly salted almonds. If you’re looking for something to satisfy that salty and sweet craving, I really recommend getting this; and, at $15 the dish is plenty large to share with 2 or more – a delightful way to start your brunch.
The Avocado Mushroom Toast is a rich and satisfying breakfast. If you’re looking for comfort food, definitely get this. I not only enjoyed the simplicity of the dish, but the creamy texture of the avocado and the earthy taste of the mushrooms were a great combination! The toast was paired with a simple citrus kale salad.
For those on the “unch” side of “brunch” – the Spinach and Kale Caesar Salad, it’s as satisfying as a salad can be. Here’s a tip for those following a paleo or keto diet: ask for the dressing and croutons on the side, add a chicken breast or some salmon for extra protein and bam! keto and Paleo approved baby.
