The Great Yaletown Cocktail Crawl

On March 15,  Vancouver Gourmet Tours hosted their inaugural Yaletown Cocktail Crawl –  a unique cocktail and food experience at four of Yaletown’s trendiest spots.

I’m a huge fan of Vancouver’s cocktail culture – we have some of the most talented mixologists in the country living amongst us.

The Yaletown Cocktail Crawl was a fun way to learn about the new cocktail trends as well as to taste the restaurants signature appetizers. Participating this time around were  XoxolatPer Se Social CornerBrix & Mortar, and House Special.

My cocktail at House Special was called the Lavender Baby N0.2 -it was a combination of Mezcal, lavender syrup and egg whites. I paired my drink with some delicious appetizers: Lemongrass Brussel Sprouts and House Spring Rolls.

Off to the next cocktail spot: Per Se Social House. I chose the Hall of Fame for my cocktail. Canadian whiskey, elderflower liqueur, Fernet Blanca and orange peel. This smoky but slightly sweet cocktail was aromatic and elegant.

Our cocktails came paired with tender Wagyu Beef Carpaccio.

Our last stop took us to Brix and Mortar. This classic Yaletown restaurant offers delicious cocktails in an open courtyard atmosphere. There are also private rooms located downstairs and open concept restaurant seating on the main floor.

My cocktail, the Big Flavours in Little China came in a Chinese takeout box (very cute!). The cocktail was a delicious mix of mandarin vodka, lemon, lychee liquor, clove spiced pear, and plum bitters served over rocks.

I came to the Cocktail Crawl with Josh, but we met up with so many people that we know and also made some new friends. We were separated into teams and the groups felt comfortable and not rushed. The restaurants were well staffed and ready for us. Each restaurant had at least a couple of cocktail selections to choose from, so there was something for everyone.

Next cocktail crawl is scheduled for April 25 and will explore the Gastown Neighbourhood: Click here for ticket info.
