Summer has arrived! School is out, families are on vacation, and it is now peak season in the city for hotels, attractions, and more. Here are 3 money saving ways to enjoy summer in our city with your family:
- Vancouver Inspiration Pass – The Vancouver Public Library (VPL) isn’t just a place to borrow books! It now has a Vancouver Inspiration Pass program where Vancouver residents can enjoy the free cultural and recreational pass program that allows them to enjoy the city’s attractions with their friends or family. This pass is valid for 2 weeks on loan from VPL. There are 140 passes available for loan every two weeks – 20 are available through the Central Library downtown and six passes available at each of VPL branches across the city. These passes allow you access free of charge to various local museums such as Museum of Anthropology at UBC, Vancouver Maritime Museum, and other attractions including Science World and Vancouver Aquarium.
- Symphony in the Park – Enjoy listening to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at Deer Lake Park for free on Sunday, July 8th. Bring a blanket or chairs and a picnic basket to enjoy a night under the stars listening to some classical and modern hits by the VSO. Concert starts at 7pm so arrive early and pick your spot on the lawn behind Shadbolt Centre.
- Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square – Grab your friends or partner and get out to Robson Square for free Sunday afternoon salsa lessons starting July 8th until August 26. Learn salsa dancing at 3pm and then watch the talented salsa dancers show off their skills with performances at 5pm. The evening ends with more dancing for both beginners and experienced dancers to move it on the dance floor!
