Once upon at time a lad from England named John Michael Osbourne decided to form a band with his mates – Black Sabbath was born.
Fast forward a few decades, and the same lad, now known as Ozzy Osbourne has seen many incarnations: front man, entrepreneur, reality TV star… yet after years of self-indulgence and addiction, the self-proclaimed “Prince of Darkness” reminded us today that regardless of his colourful past, he is still got it.
Starting with a montage of pop-culture imagery – we see Ozzy in The Jersey Shore, Ozzy in Avatar, Ozzy in The Hangover, Ozzy in Iron Man, Ozzy in…Twilight???
Soon after the man himself comes out guns blazing – belting “Bark at the Moon” like we were back in 1983. It’s hard to imagine that Ozzy will be turning 63 years old in December. There were times during the concert that his age showed a little bit – the way he walked back and forth on the stage, the slight drop of his shoulders – yet Ozzy could easily eat some of the new bands coming out at this time for breakfast.
This concert was a real rock n’ roll concert – pyrotechnics? Check. Killer base? Check? Loud as hell? Check. Water hose? Hell yeah check. Ozzy Osbourne is alive and well – long live The Prince of Darkness.
