Latitude on Main
There’s something about summer that makes me crave tacos and cerveza.
Latitude specializes in Latin American street food. They’re also famous for their latin brunches.
We got our paper menus with the offers of the day – the menu has a variety of tacos, arepas, and all sorts of Mexican finger food and tapas. They also have a handful of dinner offerings, but it’s mostly Mexican pub fare.
I got us a drink that was not on the menu. Back in Mexico I loved these drinks called Micheladas – Sol or Corona beer with salt, pepper, tabasco, lime and worcestershire
sauce. If you’ve never tried one of these, you should, it’s a delicious summer drink. So tasty. I loved how our server knew exactly what I was asking about.
For dinner we decided to try all the tacos on the menu: We had the Carne Asada tacos (grilled steak, guacamole, jack cheese, horseradish, tomatoes and onions) – These tacos were delicious! Juicy steak topped with a tasty guacamole sauce. The Pollo Tacos (chicken, creamy tomatillo sauce and pickled jalapeno peppers) – the pickled jalapenos were a great touch. And the Pescado Tacos (fried fish, cabbage, chipolte cream, sweet onion and salsa) – these tacos were my favourites! I loved the crunchy batter the fish was covered with and the subtle cream flavours.
Each dish comes with 3 tacos so they’re good for sharing. Each portion cost $11. I have to say, although the tacos are very tasty, $11 for three small tacos is a little pricey. I can’t really justify the price. But the food is delicious the service is friendly and the drinks are great.
If you want to try out Latitude without breaking the bank, try their happy hour Summer menu: Daily from 5-6:30 you can order two tacos for $5 and you can order cans of Main Street Pilsner for $4 a can. Also they have a Taco Tuesday menu: two tacos for $5 all night long. Also don’t forget Margarita Mondays! 2oz Margaritas for $5!
