If you’re looking for a sandwich place downtown Vancouver, may I suggest to you Hubbub.
Their concept is a simple one: fresh baguettes, romaine lettuce, onions, cilantro, a few jalapeno peppers, and your choice of meats.
I wouldn’t call Hubbub a gourmet sandwich restaurant, but the simplicity to their recipe does have some allure. Good food doesn’t have to be complicated. I was introduced to this restaurant by @yvrbcbro who encouraged me to try the pork sandwich.
The pork is marinated for 24 hours and slow roasted. It was very juicy, and for that I was grateful for the baguette, as the bread did a very good job of absorbing all the juice. The sandwich also has Hubbub special secret sauce. Not sure what’s in it, but I could definitely taste garlic.
One more thing about their sandwiches: These are MAN-sized beasts! I could’ve easily made two meals out of mine, but I was hungry.
We also tried the turkey sausage – free range sausage, lightly spiced, made by locals. It was really good! But if you really want to get the Hubbub experience, or if this is your first time at the shop, go for the pulled pork.
Aside from sandwiches, Hubbub offers salads, chips and soups, as well as beer and wine on tap.
