Wild Rice has two locations in BC – one in Downtown Vancouver and the other one at the River Market in New West.
Their farm-to-table menu is full of Chinese comfort food favourites: potstickers, chicken satays and BBQ pork to name a few.
The New West restaurant has a great patio overlooking the river. It’s a great place to people watch and enjoy the summer sunshine.
We started with the Mushroom and Green Onion Polenta Fries ($7)
Green onion, shitake mushrooms with cashew ricotta – I found this appetizer a tad greasy for my palate. The dip was very tasty though.
We also tried the Oceanwise Tuna Nicoise Salad ($14)
It came with seared albacore tuna, slow roasted cherry tomatoes, a soft poached egg, black olives and edamame over mixed greens. The portion was generous and the presentation was very pleasing. Love the colours on the plate.
I really enjoyed the Spicy Chicken Kung Po ($16) – twice cooked peanuts and broccoli over rice noodles in a rich coconut sauce. The sauce was really rich, and really, really good. Also the portion was massive. I couldn’t finish it all. I would definitely order this dish again.
Overall this was a very pleasant experience. Great location, nice portion sizes and good food.
