The weather cleared up just in time for last night’s Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House Tweet Up Patio Party (@JoeFortesVan #JFTweetUp)! I was praying all day for the sun to come out, and thankfully we had some warm weather to enjoy Joe Fortes amazing patio. We were welcomed upstairs, greeted by a room full of servers dishing up appetizers and the DIY Caesars Bar. The first stop for me was making myself a nice strong Caesar. For this year’s Tweet Up Party, the restaurant ran an Instagram contest – post your own Caesar creation onto Instagram and be entered to win a basket full of DIY Caesars products. My creation came with triple candied bacon and triple prawns in it – topped with a large stalk of celery and some pickled green beans and garnishes. In particular, I truly enjoyed the strips of candied bacon – I could eat that all evening!
Along with the DIY Caesars station, there was also the signature shucked oyster station. In previous years, Joe Fortes had Oyster Bob shucking away dozens of oysters for their guests, but this year’s Tweet Up introduced Oyster Alex! He showed us the skill of shucking oysters and kept us all entertained and bellies full of fresh juicy oysters.
Joe Fortes knows how to host their patio parties as the food kept flowing out of the kitchen and the bar kept serving up delicious summer cocktails such as its Blackberry Treasure cocktail and fruity Sangrias. They also setup a putting green – winners with the least strokes won Joe Fortes famous Lobster Oil to take home with them. Some of the appetizers included Miso Sablefish, Fish & Chips, Jumbo Cocktail Prawns, Chicken & Waffle bites, and their famous Seafood Towers. For dessert, the restaurant introduced a new item on their menu, the Raspberry Panna Cotta, a fruity, creamy and light decadent dessert I enjoyed thoroughly.
