Located in Pitt Meadows, Hopcott Meats is a 3rd generation family run butcher shop with a strong committed to bringing quality, local, farm fresh products to their customers with produce and meats that are additive, hormone and antibiotic free.
Last December, Hopcott Meats celebrated a new expansion. The new addition hosts an expanded retail section of local foods, a healthy “pick up and go” dinner counter, a coffee bar, and a casual bistro with a locally sourced and foraged menu.
I got to taste for myself some of the new menu items Hopcott is offering, at a long table dinner event a few weeks back. The experience was made complete with local beer and wine from Yellow Dog Brewery and Backyard Wineries.
We started our meal with a lovely and hearty Corn Chowder and Bacon. It was lovely paired with the Backyard Pinot Gris.
Next up we had a Kale Salad with pine nuts, feta, radishes and pomegranate seeds. The dressing, a honey lime vinaigrette, really hit the spot for me.
Now these are worth talking about: The Hopcott’s Mini-Yorkies. Tender and juicy rotisserie beef, with hot gravy and horseradish aioli. Oh, this was so good. When you bit into one, the saltiness of the gravy mixed with the beef was such a delight. I could’ve eaten 10 of these.
But there was more food to be had. Like, their Beef and Onion Meatballs in an Orange and Ginger Sauce, their BBQ Beef Sliders, or Roast Beef and Smoked Gouda Paninis.
The new space is wonderful, with large windows and long tables. It really encourages conversation and camaraderie. Delicious food, delicious wine and beer, good company, that’s what it all about.
We finished our meal with some homemade fudge and mini strawberry milkshakes. Did I mention everything is made in-house?
