Vancouver’s dining scene has changed a lot over the years, but a few chefs helped shape the city into the culinary destination it is today. This month, three of those names are coming together for one special evening.
On May 20, Hawksworth Restaurant will celebrate its 15-year anniversary with “The Origins,” a collaborative dinner featuring Chef David Hawksworth alongside legendary Vancouver chefs Michel Jacob and Pino Posteraro.
Honestly, this feels like one of those dinners food lovers in Vancouver will be talking about for years.
Chef Michel Jacob helped define fine dining in Vancouver through Le Crocodile, which he led from 1983 until 2024. His refined French-Alsatian cuisine and attention to detail influenced an entire generation of chefs, including Hawksworth himself.
Chef Pino Posteraro built Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill into one of Vancouver’s most celebrated Italian restaurants during its 25-year run in Yaletown. Even now, as Culinary Development Leader at LFG Growth Partners, he continues mentoring and shaping the city’s food scene.
In 2025, both Jacob and Posteraro were inducted into the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards Hall of Fame, recognizing the impact they’ve had on Vancouver’s culinary identity.
The dinner itself sounds incredibly thoughtful. Guests will experience a multi-course communal dining experience, with each chef presenting dishes that reflect their own culinary style, technique, and philosophy. Wine pairings are included, with non-alcoholic options also available.
I also love that Chef David Hawksworth is using the evening to honour not only these iconic chefs but also the teams behind the restaurant over the past 15 years, including Executive Chef Sylvan Assie and Pastry Chef Marissa Gonzales.
