There’s a reason people line up for JINYA Ramen Bar.

Today, the popular ramen chain officially opens its newest B.C. location at Willowbrook Shopping Centre in Langley, bringing its rich slow-simmered broths, customizable bowls, and izakaya-inspired atmosphere to the Fraser Valley.

I had a chance to attend the media preview ahead of opening night, and one thing stood out immediately: consistency.

Whether you’ve visited JINYA in downtown Vancouver, Burnaby, or elsewhere, the experience feels familiar in the best possible way. The broth has the same depth. The noodles have the same bite. The balance of flavour feels intentional from bowl to bowl. That level of consistency is difficult to maintain across multiple locations, but it’s part of what has made JINYA such a recognizable name among ramen lovers.

Founded in Tokyo by Tomo Takahashi, JINYA began with a simple philosophy: ramen should focus on the broth. Instead of treating it as an afterthought, the restaurant built its identity around slow-cooked stocks simmered for up to 20 hours to create layered, deeply savoury flavours. That dedication helped turn JINYA from a single restaurant into an international brand with locations across North America.

British Columbia has become an important part of that growth. The Langley restaurant marks JINYA’s fifth B.C. location, joining existing restaurants in Vancouver, Burnaby, and Victoria. The expansion makes sense in a province where ramen culture continues to thrive and diners have become increasingly particular about quality.

Some dishes have developed near cult status among regulars.

The Tonkotsu Black remains one of the restaurant’s signature bowls, built around pork broth with black garlic oil, tender chashu pork, kikurage mushrooms, seasoned egg, and green onion. It’s rich without becoming overwhelming and has become a go-to order for many longtime fans.

Another standout is the Spicy Chicken Ramen, which balances creamy chicken broth with heat and a surprising amount of depth rather than relying purely on spice. For people who want something hearty but layered, it consistently delivers.

The JINYA Bun is another dish that regulars tend to mention immediately. Soft steamed buns filled with braised chashu pork, cucumber, and house sauce make it difficult to stop at one order. The crispy rice with spicy tuna is also one of those menu items that quietly develops a loyal following after people try it once.

What continues to impress me about JINYA is how dependable the experience feels across locations. Restaurants can grow quickly and lose the details that made people care in the first place. JINYA seems aware that its reputation depends on people getting the same quality bowl every time they visit, whether they’re in Vancouver or now Langley.

The new Langley space carries the same modern aesthetic the brand is known for, blending a lively ramen bar atmosphere with a more polished dining experience. It feels designed for both quick lunches and long dinners with friends over ramen, cocktails, and small plates.

With Langley’s dining scene continuing to evolve, JINYA’s arrival feels like a natural fit.

And judging by the excitement surrounding opening day, the Fraser Valley has been waiting for this one.
