Soirette Macarons & Tea
Vancouver has gone loon for macarons.
Soirette is the new kid on the block. Everyone is raving about them! They specialize in made-in-house Parisian macarons that are free of dyes and made with all-natural ingredients.
The macarons can be purchase in boxes of 6 ($11.50) or 12 ($22), or individually for $2 a piece. A little pricey, but I tell you, they are worth every penny.
Soirette also has a large variety of teas that are available for purchase in 25g or 50g bags. This is a lovely place to have dessert and catch up with friends. I came here with @yvrbcbro who loves this place and blogged about it a while back.
We had 7 macarons to sample:
Vanilla: real vanilla flavour, crispy shell, and a creamy centre.
Malibu: Coconut and white chocolate.
Lavender: A nice and subtle macaroon, with a light and delicate lavender flavour. Beautiful presentation.
Rose: The rose macaron was very strong. Very aromatic as well.
Violette: Another light and delicate macaron – I felt all girly having these, I half-expected Mr.Darcy to come up to me and say “she’s not handsome enough to tempt me”.
Pistachio: This was a winner in my books – pistachio and white chocolate, with pistachio nuts sprinkled on top.
Passionfruit: Tangy and fresh. Another one of my favourites.
The one thing that stuck with me was the consistency of all the flavours. All had the same crispy shell, and all had the same, gooey, chewy centres. And all were delicious.
Soirette also makes customs flavours – check their store often for their seasonal offerings.
