Subway Canada recently launched it’s new campaign, Commit To Fit Pledge. Subway Canada’s ambassador, Carl Savard, is currently travelling across Canada promoting this new campaign to jumpstart a new health-oriented Facebook app.
I had the chance to meet Carl today at Subway in downtown Vancouver, where he talked to us about his commitment to a healthier lifestyle. Carl is just like everyone one of us, a normal guy who at one time was overweight and didn’t like to workout. However in 2009 when he looked at a photo of himself, he realized he needed to change his lifestyle. He started eating healthier, working out, and took up running. He is now trim and works as not only a Subway Canada ambassador but also a personal trainer and motivational speaker.
While listening to Carl’s story of success and achievement, I was motivated to eat healthier at Subway this time around. I selected a Roast Chicken Sub on Whole Wheat bun, loaded with lots of vegetables including avocado and spinach. The end result – a delicious healthy alternative to my usual Taco Tuesdays at Taco Time!
The Commit To Fit Pledge app allows Facebook users to keep track of their eating, lifestyle and fitness habits stated also at fitnessrocks.org – by checking off items that users might have done through the day. These exercises are as simple as “Swap Pop for Water” or “Skip for 15 minutes” or even “Call Your Mom”. The goal is to get users into healthier lifestyle habits. In exchange, Commit To Fit Pledge participants will be entered to win a grand prize of $10,000 cash and a $500 Subway Cash Card, or a monthly draw prize of $250 Subway Cash Card. The campaign ends at the end of October, with the grand prize draw slated for November 3, 2014.
