Healthy and Delicious in San Diego

Food is important. Good food is even more important – that’s how I see it!

Thankfully, there are more and more places popping up that help ease the search for good, nourishing food.

A place I came across on a recent trip to sunny San Diego was Cafe Gratitude.

I only wish I was there longer to have each and every item on their menu.

I was there for breakfast and, as a fan of avocados, I of course chose their Avocado Toast perfectly named “Peaceful / Breakfast Toast”.

This had smashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, a matcha wasabi cream, raw local honey, bee pollen, and a bunch of other delicious ingredients – did I tell you it’s all organic?!

I paired my toast with a Chlorophyll-rich cold-pressed, raw juice. This was a mix of cucumber, spinach, chard, celery, and mint.

The taste was great and no greenish after-taste.

I could honestly live here!

Their baked goods are all gluten-free but not the gluten-free you get in most places where it’s filled with other things you don’t even know to make it gluten-free.

Their gluten-free is with actual ingredients you can read.

I, having a sweet tooth, decided to order their daily donut.

It was a berry donut with a glaze. Not too heavy or sicklish. I could’ve had another if I wouldn’t have been flying out right after.

My guy, who prefers to eat gluten-free, found this place to be a haven. He had the Barbecue Tempeh Scramble and felt full 3/4 in – I nibbled on the rest :)

Him being a meat eater and saying he really enjoyed it is a HUGE deal. The scramble was a mix of market vegetables, shiitake mushrooms (yay!), spinach, avocado, and gluten-free sourdough toast.

To drink, he boringly had water. However, he did enjoy a pineapple and coconut muffin.

If you make your way down to San Diego, I highly suggest you make a pit stop here – though they have various locations around California!

Follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
