For a limited time only, Quiznos, the pioneer of the toasted sandwich, has gone way back in time to discover Gyrocleese, faux Greek god and inventor of the ever popular Gyro!
To celebrate, Quiznos is making history with the introduction of two new modern gyro options.
Gyro Whole Wheat Wrap: Inspired by the traditional gyro, Quiznos folds flavourful, seasoned beef and lamb into a whole wheat wrap, tops it with lettuce, tomatoes, and creamy tzatziki sauce. The price is quite reasonable for the wrap, and there was plenty of meat. Also, the tzatziki sauce was fresh and flavourful.
The wrap was a big hit with my four-year-old, and so fun to eat.
Gyro Sub Sandwich: For those who prefer their gyro to act more like a Greek “hero” sandwich, Quiznos layers slices of seasoned beef and lamb into its traditional toasted sesame sub and tops it with lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. The sesame bread was made for toasting! Crispy on the outside, and chewy in the middle. Good combination.
If tomatoes or lettuce aren’t enough veggies for you, Quiznos offers an array of additional fresh toppings to choose from. They even have a sauce bar.
The meat was particularly flavourful – that’s because their season beef and lamb are slow-roasted for five hours on a traditional, open Greek rotisserie and then carved into authentic gyro slices before serving.
The folks at Quiznos have given me a $30 GC to giveaway to one lucky reader. Comment below with your favourite Quiznos sandwich for a chance to win. I’m also giving away a GC on my Twitter AND Instagram feeds – head there to enter. You can enter all three for more chances to win.
I will pick a winner on December 15, 5-m. Good luck!
